Discovered these amazing hermit crab shells by Japanese artist Aki Inomata, inspired by ownership of land (particularly the transferal of the land belonging to the French embassy in Japan back into the hands of the Japanese).
Hermit crabs are amazing creatures, they don’t have their own shell, they have to find a vacant shell and move into it. They can be quite picky and will shop around for best shell they can find.
Also discovered this link from Otago University about a glass shell made there to study how a Hermit crab inhabits its shell.
love the imagery, the context and the fact that these hermit crabs too shop around to improve their standard of living 🙂 cool find
It is pretty neat isn’t it?
